Dr. John Lehr began his medical training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he earned his MD degree with research distinction in 1983. After completing a year of internship in internal medicine at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, he went on to complete his three year ophthalmology residency at the famed New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City; one of the oldest ophthalmology teaching programs in the western hemisphere. He then followed in the footsteps of his mentors. Dr. Lehr went on to complete an additional two accredited years of specialized training and education focused on the diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas under the guidance of Dr. Alice McPherson.
